Orthomyxoviridae

Orthomyxoviridae (orthos græsk for "lige" myxa græsk for "mucus")[1] Er en RNA-virus-familie med fem slægter (medlemmer): Influenzavirus A, Influenzavirus B, Influenzavirus C, Isavirus og Thogotovirus. Et sjette medlem er for nylig blevet beskrevet.[2] De tre førstnævnte medlemmer er virus som medfører influenza i vertebrater som fugle, menneske og andre pattedyr. Isavirus inficerer laks og thogotoviruses inficerer både vertebrater og invertebrater såsom myg og sølus.[3][4][5]
