Timothy Z. Mosley (født 10. marts 1971), bedre kendt som Timbaland, er en amerikansk sangskriver, producer og rapper hvis stil har påvirket både R&B og hip-hop og været med til at udviske grænsen mellem de to genrer og videre til pop og dance. Med sin samarbejdspartner Magoo, er han medlem af hip-hop-gruppen Timbaland & Magoo.
Timbaland er blevet sammenlignet med producere som Brian Eno, Phil Spector og Norman Whitfield, da han har været med til at redefinere lyden af en hel genre med en umidddelbart genkendelig lyd.[1][2] Hans sange har ofte usædvanlige arrangementer, lyde og instrumentationer, bundet sammen af hans karakteristiske fornemmelse for rum og rytme. Ligesom Spector og Whitfield overskygger Timbalands produktioner til tider den udøvende kunstner og Timbaland bliver selv sangens stjerne. Med sangskriverne Steve "Static" Garrett og barndomsvennen Missy Elliott, har Timbaland været med til at skabe nogle af de mest succesfulde sange i moderne pop og urban musik, heriblandt singler for Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Ludacris, Nelly Furtado, The Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger og Keri Hilson.
Som Producer
Timbaland er meget inspireret af Arabisk musik det høres meget i hans musik, mere det han lavet i slutningen af 90'erne. Han er manden du skal gå til hvis du vil have et hit, men ligesom så mange andre sampler han også musik, selvom dette måske ikke er noget man forbinder ham med. Mest kendt er hans arbejde nok sammen med Aaliyah, Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliot, Jay-Z. Siden år 2002 har Timbaland arbejdet sammen med en ny producer som hedder Danja, Danja har virkelig hjulpet Timbaland meget med hensyn til lyde og givet melodier til Timbaland's trommer.
