- With the deployment next Tuesday you will be able to edit all sitelinks at once as well as all fields of the "in other languages" box. This is an intermediate step towards the new user interface and will evolve further over the next weeks. You can see what is coming on Tuesday now already on test.wikidata.org.
- WikiProject Names aims to improve name related data on Wikidata. Initial focus is on first names (given names). Half of items for first names still need cleaning up, but 15% of items for persons already have a given name defined.

- Worked on supporting statements on properties in WikibaseDataModelSerialization (bugzilla:66425)
- Fixed broken xml api output (bugzilla:70531), as well as some inconsistencies in the xml format and added tests that should help avoid future breakage in the xml format
- Finished performance improvements for badges
- Worked on entity usage tracking
- Pietro from the EAGLE project came to visit us, one of the first 3rd party users of Wikibase. See http://www.eagle-network.eu
- Added a hook point to allow 3rd party users (like the EAGLE project) of Wikibase to control what goes into the search index
- Started work on a widget that lets you edit badges right in the item instead of going to the special page
- Use checkboxes instead of a multiselect to edit badges on d:Special:SetSiteLink
- Work on hhvm-related issues in Wikibase and temporarily disabled the beta feature on Wikidata until fixes are deployed for the issues.
- Deployed new code on test.wikidata! (to be deployed on wikidata on Tuesday), see mw:Wikidata_deployment#wmf.2F1.25wmf1
- Work on fixing empty maps in the JSON serialization, differentiate them from empty lists (fixed prerequisite bugzilla:70606)

Recent changes
- You can use the

interwikis to link to https://phabricator.wikimedia.org. [1] [2] - Some wikis have a template to track bugs in Bugzilla. You should update it to work with Phabricator. You can look at the one on mediawiki.org to see how. [3] [4]
- You can look at Special:MediaStatistics to see what kind of files are on your wiki. [5]
- A new tool can now create thumbnails of large TIFF images. This concerns files larger than 50 megapixels. These thumbnails are also sharpened. You can comment on Commons. [6]
- The Media Viewer tool has a clearer link to the file page. It also has buttons to download, share and embed the file. You can enlarge images by clicking on them. [7]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf2) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since 2 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from 7 October, and on all Wikipedias from 9 October (calendar).
- If you make a code mistake when editing a Lua script, you won't be able to save your edit. [8] [9]
- We fixed some more Internet Explorer bugs. If you use Internet Explorer 10, you will be able to use VisualEditor next week. Support for earlier versions is coming next. [10]
- On Thursday, the tool to edit TemplateData will come to 30 more wikis. [11] [12]
- You can help sort bugs in the Book and PDF export tool on October 8. [13]
- 1% of logged-out readers are getting pages from servers that run the HHVM tool. HHVM should make pages load faster. [14]

Om Fámjinstenen og andre runestene fra Færøerne[rediger kildetekst]
Hej Palnatoke. Du foreslog mig for to år siden at deltage i WP Projekt Færøerne, og det har jeg så gjort siden, godt at du foreslog det :) Du spurgte også dengang, om jeg kunne tage et billede af Fámjinstenen, og det har jeg endelig fået gjort nu, jeg var i Fámjins kirke til en konsert, og så tog jeg lige et billede af stenen som står ude i forkirken. Burde der forresten ikke være et genetivs s imellem Fámjin og stenen, så den staves Fámjinsstenen? Og så ville jeg lige spørge dig om du har en mening om, hvad runestenene fra Kirkjubøur og fra Sandavágur skal hedde på dansk, hvis jeg (eller andre) vil oprette en artikel om disse? Skal de hedde Kikjubøstenen og Sandavágsstenen/Sandavágurstenen/Sandevågsstenen? Eller hvad? Bygden Sandavágur hedder bare Sandavágur her på den danske Wikipedia. Endelsen -vágur, er den samme som i bygden, som jeg kommer fra, Vágur, som på gammelt dansk sprog kaldtes Vaag eller Våg, ifølge det er det danske navn for Sandavágur sikkert Sandevåg, ville jeg tro. Men hvad ville du kalde stenen fra Sandavágur på dansk? På færøsk Wikipedia hedder den Sandavágssteinurin, på engelsk WP kaldes den Sandavágur stone. - Hvad navngivning af runesten angår, kan jeg godt finde på at læne mig op ad Bruger:Runologen - hun har selvfølgelig en tendens til at benytte fagfolksnavne, men har også en god forståelse af at især de svenske stens navne bare ikke fungerer særligt godt i en tekst til lægfolk. - Ok, tak for svaret. Jeg har oprettet en artikel om Kirkjubøstenen, jeg kaldte den Kirkjubøur-runestenen (efter at have undersøgt hvad andre lignende sider kaldes). Hvis den skal hedde noget andet, så må den flyttes. Jeg har lidt svært ved at finde ud af, hvor stenen befinder sig, i den engelske artikel står, at den befinder sig i Færøernes Nationalmuseum, men på samme side er et billede fra Sankt Olavs kirken i Kirkjubøur, hvor der står, at stenen står inde i kirken, hvilket billedet også bekræfter. Billedet er fra 2005. Angående genetivs s som jeg spurgte om, så kan jeg ikke se at det er blevet brugt i f.eks. artiklerne om runestene fra Sverige og Norge, så det skal det heller ikke her vil jeg tro. Flere steder bruges bindestreg, kan jeg se, derfor valgte jeg også at bruge bindestreg til artiklen om runestenen fra Kirkjubøur. Vh. EileenSanda (diskussion) 10. okt 2014, 17:44 (CEST)

Recent software changes
- You can now log into Phabricator, the new tool to track bugs. Create your account and add your Bugzilla email address. We are copying the bugs from Bugzilla. Bugzilla is still open. [18] [19]
- You will now get the VisualEditor newsletter in your language if someone has translated it. You can add translations. You can know about the next translations by joining the translators list or asking Elitre (WMF).

Software changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf3) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since 9 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from 14 October, and on all Wikipedias from 16 October (calendar).
- 5% of logged-out readers are getting pages from servers that run the HHVM tool. HHVM should make pages load faster. You can also test it as a Beta Feature. [22]
