English: St Matthew, Skegness The church was built to be the centrepiece of the new seaside resort of Skegness developed by the Earl of Scarborough in 1879. The architect, James Fowler, followed the Gothic style, but due to unsuitable foundations could not include a bell tower. This explains the west turret which houses a peal of six tubular bells. An interesting variety of local skills and occupations are reflected in the windows of the two aisles. The organ, built by Rushworth and Dreaper, plus additions to the swell organ and pedal organ, have achieved the original specification of 1929. The parish now has one of the finest organs in Lincolnshire. During recent years, a glass screen has enabled the creation of an open area.
