Den officielle holdning, som Wikimedia Foundation følger er, at "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain, and that claims to the contrary represent an assault on the very concept of a public domain". For yderligere oplysninger, se Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
Se Commons:Reuse of PD-Art photographs.

Warning sign This tag can be used only when the author cannot be ascertained by reasonable enquiry. If you wish to rely on it, please specify in the image description the research you have carried out to find who the author was. Rationale: The editor Mayflower inc. isn't active anymore. A search has been made to find the book author coordinates, without success. It is believed those two searches constitute a reasonable enquiry to try to ascertain the author identity. No element in the book indicates the photo has never been published before, so it's assumed the photo has been published before 1942.
