Danish Musician. Born 1970, Copenhagen, Denmark. Started playing drums at the age of 6, piano at age 9 and guitar and singing at the age of 10 at the same time as forming his first band. Played with several local bands while at school and also started engineering and recording at an early age. Started focusing on songwriting at the age of 15 and released his first 7” 45 at the age of 19 in 1990 as bass player with the band, Dans Moderne. At the same time singer, guitarist and songwriter, fronting his own band Flow, with whom he released a 4 track EP in 1995 and in 1996 signed with Virgin and released an album recorded in Denmark and mastered by Beatles engineer, Chris Blair at Abbey Road studios, London. Flow disbanded in 1998.

In 1997, Søren joined Danish singer/songwriter Marie Frank, as guitarist and recorded her first grammy-award winning album for BMG in New York in 1999, for which he received a gold record. The follow up album sold very well and nearly went gold as well. Søren recorded two more albums with Marie Frank before leaving to concentrate on his career as sideman and producer for various Danish acts, as well as running his own recording studio, Echophonic in Copenhagen.

He formed the band Boat Man Love with three other well-known Danish sidemen and released three critically acclaimed albums with this band between 2005 and 2009. The band also worked as backing band for one of Denmarks biggest singer/songwriters, Michael Falch.

In 2009, Søren Koch was asked to join leading Danish rock/pop singer/guitarist/songwriter Tim Christensen’s band as bass player. This led to four years of heavy touring in Denmark, Holland, Germany and Japan as member of Tim Christensen & The Damn Crystals as well as an album release in 2011. In 2013 this band, with American friends, Tracy Bonham and Mike Viola, did a one-off live show, double live-album and DVD as a tribute to Paul McCartney on the day of his 70th anniversary. In 2010 Søren formed his own band, The Beatophonics as singer/guitarist/songwriter. Søren also recorded the band’s debut album in his own studio in 2015 and produced the band’s follow up live-album in 2017 - both released on Sørens own label, Echophonic and distributed by Target Records.The Beatophonics website

Besides this, Søren has worked as sideman (guitar/bass/singing) with several leading Danish rock/pop as well as indie artists (like Peter Sommer, Lovebites, Peter Belli, Steffen Westmark etc) and since 1990 contributed to more than 30 record releases. Besides working as a musician, songwriter and producer, Søren has also, with a wide knowledge on especially Scandinavian rock music history, written several articles about this and contributed to museum exhibitions regarding this theme. As a keen collector of 50s/60s/70s records and especially musical instruments and equipment of these eras, his collection of vintage guitars has been featured in among others, the british “Guitar & Bass Magazine”. As a fan of the band since age 19, it was a honor to join The Zombies as bass player in early 2018, following the death of bass player Jim Rodford.
