Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla are not terries even dependence. They are a complete part of Spain, as Corsica in France or Alaska in USA.

Why do not Azores and Madeira add in this category? Because these two archipelagoes are a part of Portugal, they are not dependences. For same motives you are wrong. 80.39.156.240 5. mar 2010, 16:59 (CET)

Ceuta and Melilla are on the African mainland, so there is no reason for them to be excluded. Canary Islands and Madeira are off the African coast, while the Azores are virtually in the middle of the Atlantic (and probably rather off the European coast than the African coast). Saint Helena, which you have not mentioned, is also in the middle of the Atlantic, by the way. --Palnatoke 5. mar 2010, 18:49 (CET)
