Grønlandsk ambassadør[rediger kildetekst]

Hej,

(Skrev 194.177.242.38 (diskussion • bidrag) 6. nov 2004, 16:39. Husk at signere dine indlæg.)

Orobanchaceae[rediger kildetekst]

The Danish Wikipedia has two competing articles for the plant taxon Orobanchaceae:

These need to be unified into a single article, which can then be Interwiki-linked with the corresponding one in other languages, e.g. de:Sommerwurzgewächse. --Naddy

I have brought order into this mess. You will also find that I have placed the relevant interwiki-links on de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sommerwurzgewächse.

- Kåre Thor Olsen (Kaare) 31. mar 2005 kl. 10:45 (CEST)

Hi there. It appears to me that Rødovre and Rødovre Kommune refer to essentially the same. Is this correct? If it is, there are a number of articles linking to the former - would it be a good idea to make a redirect? --Nikai 15. maj 2005 kl. 17:53 (CEST)

Rødovre is a city. Rødovre Kommune is the administrative area. County? --Rune Magnussen 15. maj 2005 kl. 22:36 (CEST)
Well, there are towns which are at the same time an administrative district. In such a case it makes sense to have only one article for both. (I'm from such a town;). But if a town is the capital of an administrative district which contains other entities, it might be better to have articles for both the capital and the administrative district. --Nikai 16. maj 2005 kl. 01:54 (CEST)

You have this image, it seems that someone copied it from English Wikipedia. However, people in English Wikipedia have found out that the image doesn't belong to the public domain. Instead, you can only use it for non-commercial or educational purposes. Such is too restrictive licence for Wikipedia. [1] You can't even use the image in Wikipedia under United States fair use law. In English Wikipedia they are going to delete the image. I think that you should do the same because the Wikipedia servers are located in United States. -85.76.146.129

Hi, I am w:nl:gebruiker:Walter of the dutch Wikipedia. I am writing you because your are listed as ambassador of your wiki. I have something to say that I think you will find useful and possibly others of your wiki also.

You know it is not easy for the members of a local wiki to be informed about what is going on in the higher levels of the Wikimedia family. This because of the language problem and the high level of fragmentation of places where you can find information.

I am now making a weekly news letter (Wikizine) that attempts to provide the news of the Wikimedia projects. The concept is to list only a very short description of the news an give the relevant url to the subject. I want it to be short, only give the news that is important for all projects. The target audience include the ambassadors. It is for people who are interested in what it going on outside there own wiki. I emphasize on the news that is practical-technical. The information comes form several "news"-pages on several wikis, the mailinglists and IRC. There will be news I can not discover. If you have news found somewhere or from you own wiki please let my know. wikizine AT wikipedia.be

I can only create one version in something that supposed to be English. I count on the readers to inform there local wiki about the news in there own language.

Wikizine is send by use of the mailinglist Announce-l. It is only used for this. So people can subscribe without being swamped by emails like the lists.

http://mail.wikipedia.org/mailman/listinfo/announce-l

I hope that you and others of your wiki will subscribe to Wikizine and give feedback. So that Wikizine can become really a source where Wikimedians can find out what is going on. Greetings, w:nl:gebruiker:Walter PS: do not repond here. I will not see it.

Hi, in portuguese and spanish, Culpa is a word used in criminal law. A bot linked the portuguese article (pt:Culpa), with the danish one (Culpa). Is it the same culpa? --Patrick msg 5. jan 2006 kl. 18:20 (CET)

Yes. --Palnatoke 5. jan 2006 kl. 20:30 (CET)

Global meltdown of copyright[rediger kildetekst]

Hello all Wiki's and others!

Wishing solely to spread the word about initiatives to break down the copyright, I have to point to my Danish website, since 2002 operating with no copyright whatsoever. Companies and communities are gathering around the concept, which according to the traditional and mainstream media does not exist at all!

With decades of copyright restrictions, the media industry has been able to monopolize the huge and constantly growing business market within journalism, photography, information, advertising and public relations. This whole market is now being challenged by my initiative, as authorities and big companies has published still more information through PDFnet during the almost four years of existance.

Search Engines from all over the world are frequently, some daily, visiting the site in order to maintain an updated cache-version of the articles. According to Google, PDFnet.dk has a PageRank 2, which for a private homepage is quite extraordinary.

The explanation is simple: PDFnet contains real-life, journalistic information on a non-advertising basis. There are no Pop-ups and no commercials on PDFnet, technically it is simply a collection of updated articles and photos, searchable from A to Z – and through search engines as i.e. Google the users therefore find exactly what they were looking for, when they are led to the PDFnet.

It's actually just another way to use the "people of the press". Only, the press won't tell about it.

Please consider my initiative and feel free to copy the whole concept, in Denmark as abroad. It's just another way of doing business - but a new one.

Best regards Tommy Hansen editor-in-chief PDFnet

Rename account[rediger kildetekst]

Hi everyone! Is it possible (as on French WP) to rename my account? I'd like it to be Bruger:TwoWings instead. Thank you to answer on my page. --Two Wings 28. okt 2007, 15:46 (CET)

Only now noticed your request, because it was made in the wrong place (Wikipedia:Anmodning om ændring af brugernavn is the right place, but only available in Danish). The account is now renamed. - Kåre Thor Olsen (Kaare) 10. dec 2007, 18:58 (CET)

Hebrew wikipedia[rediger kildetekst]

Hi, the Hebrew wikipedia is becoming more freindly, But we need your help! Would you be kind and translate the following into Danish?:

"Shalom and Welcome to the Hebrew Wikipedia!

Hebrew is a Semitic language of the Afro-Asiatic language family spoken by more than six million people in Israel and by an unknown number of people in Jewish and Israeli communities around the world. In Israel, it is the de facto language of the state and the people, as well as being one of the two official languages (together with Arabic), and it is spoken by the majority of the population.

Modern Hebrew is written from right to left using the Hebrew alphabet, and it is the language of the Bible.

The Hebrew Wikipedia is the Hebrew edition of Wikipedia. This edition began in July 2003 and has over 67,000 articles as of 17 December 2007. If you have any announcements or questions regarding international issues or the Hebrew Wikipedia, you are invited to consult the embassy of the Hebrew-speaking Wikipedia here"

""X is the 4th letter of the Hebrew alphabet and first letter in the word Denit - Dansk"

This is what it will look like: [2]

Thanks and cheers,

Ori [3]

Question about twin-city of Randers[rediger kildetekst]

Good day. I am townsman of ukrainian city Zaporizjzja. In en-wiki and in da-wiki I see information, that city Randers is twin-city of our Zaporizjzja. But I can't found any sources about this fact. The LocalisationUpdate extension has gone live[rediger kildetekst]

The LocalisationUpdate extension is now enabled for all Wikimedia projects. From now on new localisations that become available in SVN will become available to your project within 24 hours. Your localisations get into SVN from translatewiki.net typically within a day and at worst in two days. This is a huge improvement from the old practice where the localisations became available with new software. This could take weeks, even months.

The localisations done by our community at translatewiki.net are committed to SVN typically every day. When the system messages in English are the same as the local messages, they will now be inserted in a file and are available for use in all our projects in a timely manner

What this means for you[rediger kildetekst]

Local messages have an impact on the performance of our system. It is best when messages are as much as possible part of the system messages. In order to remove unnecessary duplication, all the messages that have a local localisation and are exactly the same as the system message will be removed. What we ask you to do is to compare and proof read the messages in translatewiki.net and the local messages. You can then either remove local messages when the translatewiki.net message is to be preferred or, you can update the message at translatewiki.net.

Messages that are specific to your project will have to stay as they are. You do want to check if the format and the variables of the message are still the same.

Why localise at translatewiki.net[rediger kildetekst]

When you localise at translatewiki.net, your messages will be used in all Wikimedia projects and eventually in all MediaWiki based projects. This is how we provide the standard support for your language. When messages change, at translatewiki.net you will be prompted to revisit your translations. Localising is more efficient because we have innovated the process to make you more efficient; there is text explaining about messages and we have applied AJAX technology to reduce the number of clicks you have to make.

Translatewiki.net update[rediger kildetekst]

  • Currently 99.12% of the MediaWiki messages and 53.45% of the messages of the extensions used by the Wikimedia Foundation projects have been localised. How can we improve the usability for your language[rediger kildetekst]

We expect that with the implementation of LocalisationUpdate the usability of MediaWiki for your language will improve. We are now ready to look at other aspects of usability for your language as well. There are two questions we would like you to answer: Are there issues with the new functionality of the Usability Initiative Does MediaWiki support your language properly

The best way to answer the first question is to visit the translatewiki.net. Change the language to your language, select the “vector” skin and add the advanced tool bar in in the preferences and check out the new functionality. And make some changes in your user page. When there is a need to improve on the localisation, please make the necessary changess . It should update your localisation straight away. We would like you to report each issue individually at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Usability_issues.

When there are problems with the support of MediaWiki for your language, we really want to know about this. It is best to report each issue separately. In this way there will be no large mass of issues to resolve but we can address each issue on its own. Consider issues with the display of characters, the presentation of your script, the position of the side bar, the combination of text with other languages, scripts. It is best to try this in an environment like the prototype wiki as it provides you with a clean, basic and up to date environment. The prototype wiki is available for five languages but you can select any of them, change the preferences to your language and test out MediaWiki for your language.

We would like you to report each issue individually at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Language issues. The issues you raise will all be assessed. It is important to keep each issue separate, because this will make it easier to understand the issues and find solutions.

Article Text about a kommandosoldat from Norway, has been deleted without discussion needs proofreading.[rediger kildetekst]

The article about Bjørn Sagvolden has been deleted without discussion.

I hereby request that the article be un-deleted. And at the same time be nominated for deletion, if one desires that.

Would it be possibly for someone to correct my attempt at writing in Danish?

  • The original English text:

"Bjørn Sagvolden is a former Norwegian commando who was the subject of a fact-finding commission in 1983.[1]

In 2008 he launched a lawsuit against the Ministry of Defence.

In 2009, it became known that the Ministry had referred to a fictitious death (of the relevant physician) as reason for not producing medical records from Sagvolden's service with his previous special forces unit, FSK.[2][3]"

  • My translation:
