End of active monarchy[rediger kildetekst]
Compiling a time regarding the evolution of political systems, I ask here in order to shorten research: Is there a specific date when the role of the monarch became purely ceremonial?Antemister (diskussion) 1. maj 2021, 20:24 (CEST)
- It can always be discussed what “purely ceremonial” is. However, a reasonable answer would be 24 July 1901 (see article Systemskiftet 1901) where parliamentary rule was introduced. The monarch formally possessed powers subsequent to said date and in 1920 the King dismissed the government, however an outcry emerged (see Påskekrisen). Since then it is reasonable to describe the role of the Danish monarch as purely ceremonial. -Pugilist (diskussion) 1. maj 2021, 21:07 (CEST)
- The constitution ended the absolute monarchy and began the democracy when signed June 5th, 1849
- Sarrus (d • b) d. 1. maj 2021, 21:14 (CEST)- It is not correct that the constitution in 1849 made the monarch’s role purely ceremonial. -Pugilist (diskussion) 1. maj 2021, 21:25 (CEST)
- The Danish monarchy is the power that finally accepts all laws and it has rejected laws before. The government is also hired by the monarch who must accept it; rejecting a government has happened before and the monarch can do so at any time. The Danish monarch is still very much in power and could disolve the Danish parliament tomorrow if it wished to do so.(Skrev 185.107.15.50 (diskussion • bidrag) . Husk at signere dine indlæg.)
- Unsourced nonsense. --Pugilist (diskussion) 19. maj 2021, 18:12 (CEST)
Do you mean ceremonial as in the monarch holds no constitutional power or as in refraining from using it to the fullest extent?Kisualk (diskussion) 19. maj 2022, 10:08 (CEST)
- It is now ceremonial as in the monarch holds no power, but that isn't directly stated in the constitution. You can read about the situation in e.g. the book Danmarks Riges Grundlov med kommentarer by Henrik Zahle who was professor of law and expert in constitutional law. --Kartebolle (Dipsacus fullonum) (diskussion) 19. maj 2022, 10:24 (CEST)
